SynchroSkate

Where teamwork, creativity, and precision come together

What is SynchroSkate?

SynchroSkate (short for synchronized skating) is an exciting and fast-growing discipline in figure skating where a team of skaters perform intricate formations and choreography, all in perfect unison. Skaters glide across the ice in patterns like circles, lines, and blocks, moving together with precision, speed, and grace.

Why SynchroSkate?

Make Lasting Friendships: Skating on a team creates unique bonds and lifelong friendships.

Skill Development: From mastering new turns to developing awareness of others on the ice, SynchroSkate helps skaters grow in many ways.

Fun Competitions and Performances: Teams can participate in local, regional, and even international events, showing off their hard work and talent.

Meet the Coach!

The Intro to Synchro program will be led by Coach Shaelyn Cooper, who brings 10 years of coaching experience and a passion for synchronized skating. Shaelyn previously coached two Synchro teams with the High River Skating Club and is excited to return to teaching this discipline and we are so excited to have her!

What makes SynchoSkate special?

Teamwork: Unlike other forms of figure skating, SynchroSkate focuses on group effort. Every skater plays an essential role, making it a fantastic way to build a strong team and community.

Creativity: Each routine and element incorporates skills skaters are developing, while also giving them the opportunity to express themselves artistically and build confidence.

Technical Skills: SynchroSkate challenges skaters to synchronize their movements while executing turns, steps, and transitions, enhancing overall coordination and control, which in turn contributes to their performance in other disciplines!

Who Can Participate?

Synchroskate is inclusive and open to skaters of various levels and ages.

For the Intro to Synchro program offered by the Okotoks Skating Club this Fall 2024, the recommended age for participants is aged 8-14 and for skaters to be at the Star 1-4 levels.
