Important Program Info

  • All Pre-Junior sessions are offered in group format and are a maximum of 45-minute on-ice sessions. Skaters will be supervised and with a dedicated coach or Program Assistant for their entire time on ice.
  • Payment by instalments is optional and may be selected at checkout.
  • We follow the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model, which recommends that skaters at this level train 1–2 hours per week on the ice and 1 hour per week off the ice. For Pre-Junior skaters, we recommend registering for 1–2 on-ice sessions per week, with at least one session that includes dryland or ballet training.
  • Program fees for Pre-Junior include costs for ice and coaching fees. Additional costs are noted below.
  • VOLUNTEER POLICY: For the 2026–2027 season, all families with a skater registered in Pre-Junior and/or StarSkate are required to submit a $200 Volunteer Bond at the time of registration.
    • Mandatory volunteer requirement: This season, each family is required to provide a volunteer for the Year-End Ice Show (March 31-April 10, 2027) and either this year's Casino Fundraiser (Nov 19-20, 2026) OR the OSC Winter Classic Star 1-3 Event (Nov 29, 2026).
    •  The number of volunteer commitments required will depend on how many sessions your skater is registered for each week.
    • Once your volunteer commitments are completed by the stated deadlines, the bond will be credited to your account (a refund can be issued upon request).
    • For full details on the requirements, deadlines, and opportunities, please visit the Volunteering page or view our Policies page.
  • PARENT ORIENTATION MEETINGS
This year, orientation videos will be shared with parents at the start of the season. Watch for information and this season's handbook to be distributed to members in September 2026.
  • SEASON KICK-OFF & TEAM BUILDING EVENT
Mark your calendars! Friday, September 11, from 4:30–7:00 p.m. for a dynamic team-building event with goal setting, on-ice skills, and more. All StarSkaters in Pre-Junior and StarSkate are invited to attend. Registration is required - watch for the sign-up link to be sent out in August 2026.
  • Winter break dates:  Friday, December 18 to Sunday, January 3. Last sessions before the winter break will be on Thursday, December 17 and will resume on Monday, January 4.
Session days and times are subject to change without notice.
OSC reserves the right to cancel or adjust sessions or pricing as deemed necessary by the OSC Board of Directors.
All withdrawals and cancellations are subject to the OSC Cancellation & Refund Policy.

Required Equipment & Apparel

Skaters at this level are required to wear proper leather figure skates with picks intact. Skaters are to wear flexible but warm skating-appropriate apparel which can include skating tights, skating dress, leggings, gloves, etc. Helmets are to be worn by participants up to and including Stage 5 of CanSkate. Pre-Junior skaters may refer to their coaches for further information on helmet use.

Members are expected to dress their participant in appropriate apparel and equipment. Costs vary and members should expect to add this expense to their budget. OSC will offer OSC-branded apparel from time to time and will host used dress/skate sales annually.
