StarSkate - Fall/Winter 2026-27


September 1, 2026 to April 10, 2027

Registration Dates: 

Registration for the Fall season of CanSkate/PowerSkate and the full Fall/Winter season of Figure skating will open on the following dates: 

Okotoks/Foothills County Residents: July 6, 2026

Public Registration: July 15, 2026

Out-of-Club StarSkate: August 1, 2026

All Fall/Winter programming will take place at the Okotoks Recreation Centre - Piper Arena and Scott Seaman Sports Rink in DeWinton. 

Registration Deadlines:

CanSkate / Pre-CanSkate: October 18, 2026 (or until sessions are full)

PrePower / PowerSkate: October 18, 2026 (or until sessions are full)

StarSkate: January 31, 2027 (or until sessions are full).

Register by July 31 and be entered to win a $250 OSC Credit!*

*All skaters who register for StarSkate sessions by July 31 at 11:59 p.m. will be entered into the draw. The $250 credit will be applied to the winning skater's main family account and can be used toward registration or other purchases made through the OSC. If preferred, the credit may be used toward OSC apparel. The credit will be applied by August 31, 2026. The winner will be notified by email.
 

Information for the 2026-27 season:

  • Mandatory Sessions: This season, Intermediate B / Senior skaters will be required to participate in a mandatory session. Skaters can choose between two session options. Please refer to the session details below.
  • You will be informed of your skater's StarSkate level before the season starts. For more information or to confirm your skater's level, please contact Coach Talia at coachtalia@okotoksskatingclub.ca.
  • VOLUNTEER POLICY: For the 2026–2027 season, all families with a skater registered in Pre-Junior and/or StarSkate are required to submit a $200 Volunteer Bond at the time of registration.
    • Mandatory volunteer requirement: This season, each family is required to provide a volunteer for the Year-End Ice Show (March 31-April 10, 2027) and either this year's Casino Fundraiser (Nov 19-20, 2026) OR the OSC Winter Classic Star 1-3 Event (Nov 29, 2026).
    •  The number of volunteer commitments required will depend on how many sessions your skater is registered for each week.
    • Once your volunteer commitments are completed by the stated deadlines, the bond will be credited to your account (a refund can be issued upon request).

  • Package discounts are available for each level. The discount amounts are listed under each level, under 'Available Discounts'. Please note that the deadline for these discounts is August 7, 2026. Register early to qualify.
  • Save the Date – Season Kick-Off Team Building!
    Mark your calendars! Friday, September 11, from 4:30–7:00 p.m. for a dynamic team-building event with goal setting, on-ice skills, and more. All StarSkaters in Pre-Junior and StarSkate are invited to attend. Registration is required - watch for the sign-up link to be sent out in August 2026.  
  • Coach/Skating Goal Setting Meetings:  Coach/Skater goal-setting meetings are optional for skaters at the Star 2 level and up. More information will be provided at the Parent Orientation Meetings in Sept (dates below). 
  • PARENT ORIENTATION MEETINGS
    This year, orientation videos will be shared with parents at the start of the season. Watch for information and this season's handbook to be distributed to members in September 2026.
  • Winter break dates:  Friday, December 18 to Sunday, January 3. Last sessions before the winter break will be on Thursday, December 17 and will resume on Monday, January 4.
Session days and times are subject to change without notice.
OSC reserves the right to cancel or adjust sessions or pricing as deemed necessary by the OSC Board of Directors.
All withdrawals and cancellations are subject to the OSC Cancellation & Refund Policy.

Junior - Fall/Winter 2026-27

  • Junior-level STARSkate session fees include ice costs only. More information on coaching fees is below. 
  • Payment by instalments is optional and may be selected at checkout.
  • Dryland training is included in Friday and Sunday ice sessions. Dryland focuses on sport-specific movements, endurance/strength conditioning, stretching and a dynamic warm-up that will be used at competition and test day. Also, there will be a focus on dryland jumps and spins to enhance skaters' confidence.
  • Ballet, Stretch & Strengthen is included in Monday ice sessions and is designed specifically for figure skaters looking to enhance their on-ice performance, body lines and posture. This class combines the elegance and discipline of ballet with targeted exercises to improve flexibility, strength, and overall body control. 
  • DRYLAND NOTICE: Skaters are NOT supervised between their on-ice session and dryland or ballet training sessions. Parents are asked to accompany their skater to the dryland training room (Community Room) or arrange for another adult to do so.
  • Daily Drop-In sessions are available for purchase for most sessions. Skaters wishing to drop in for a session MUST contact the coaches for approval before registration. Contact coachtalia@okotoksskatingclub.ca for approval. For information on how to purchase a drop-in session, click here.

Additional Fees

Skate Canada Membership Fee 2026-27 - $64

The Skate Canada Membership fee is due once per season and is mandatory for all on-ice participants. This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

The current season dates are Sept 1, 2026 to August 31, 2027.

Payment is required before any participant may take to the ice. The fee is made up of a registrant fee to both the National office and Section office (Alberta-NWT/Nun), the Safe Sport fee and Injury Benefit Charge.

Mini-Competition / Star 1 -3 Event Fees - TBA

OSC will be hosting a mini-competition for Star 1 to 3. Fees for competitions are extra and are not included in registration. Costs will be announced at a later date. Registration for the event is optional.

Additional mini-competitions at other Skate Canada Clubs may be announced throughout the season and each event will require an additional registration and fees for that event. More information will be provided during the season.

This season, the Coach/Skater goal-setting meeting is optional for skaters at the Star 2 level and Up. More information will be provided in the Handbook and Parent Orientation videos to be distributed in September. 

Competition Fees

Local or regional competitions at other Skate Canada Clubs announced throughout the season will each require separate registration and fees are paid to the Club/association as required. More information will be provided during the season from the Competition Chair.

Out-of-Club Registration 

  • Out-of-club registration is for skaters whose main Skate Canada registration is with another Skate Canada club.
  • Out-of-club skaters may register for OSC sessions starting August 1, 2026.
  • All out-of-club registrations must be approved by our Director of Skating and the skater’s main coach. Lesson approval must come from the skater’s main coach. 
  • Registration is handled through the Registrar. Email info@okotoksskatingclub.ca to begin. Have your coach’s contact information ready or contact our coaches before reaching out.
